Following the success of the “Discover Greece” event, the Cultural Diversity group proudly hosted an afternoon that allowed students and parents to immerse themselves in the rich and vibrant Chinese culture on June 11. The event featured various engaging workshops and activities.

Highlights included a thrilling chopstick competition, where the record stood at an impressive 25! Participants enjoyed an array of Chinese food and snacks, such as boba tea and rice crackers, and kids had hands-on experience making dumplings in all shapes and sizes and folds.

Artistic activities were abundant with paper cutting workshops featuring traditional “Spring” and “Double Happiness” designs, and opportunities to discover one’s Chinese zodiac. Children also crafted adorable panda masks and tried their hand at Chinese calligraphy. A special photo corner with Chinese costumes provided memorable snapshots.

One of the event’s standout moments was a mesmerizing professional dance performance, captivating both children and parents alike. Additionally, a kung fu demonstration showcased the strength and beauty of this traditional martial art.

”We aimed to bring a touch of Asian joy to our European school. Through the combined efforts of our community, we hope to convey that culture transcends boundaries and unites us all, even if one dumpling at a time.” mentioned Christine Kuo, lead organizer and mother of Jay (M2EN) & Mylo (soon-to-be pupil).

This vibrant event was made possible thanks to the support of the Mandarin-speaking parent community and friends from the Lille Chinese Culture Association. Their dedication and teamwork ensured a delightful experience for all attendees. The event was a true team effort, and the enjoyment of both kids and parents was evident throughout the day.

We look forward to continuing this series and exploring more cultures that enrich our community.
